Creative Conscience Awards 2017

This year I worked on a project which involved creating a product/service which may help reduce or overcome a health issue in the UK. I chose an issue which has probably touched most of us in some way during our lifetime.
Anxiety.
According to Mind, Anxiety now affects '1 in 6 people...in any given week'. Seeing as this is becoming such a major issue I thought it was appropriate to try and help those who suffer from it and ideally to help them concur it!

Therefore I created the app, Unfold. This app is designed to help monitor and reduce anxiety for people aged 16+. The app is anonymous and includes features such as calming exercises, advice on how to reduce anxieties and the ability for the user to monitor their worries.
It was when I attended a lecture by Chrissy Levett, founder of the Creative Conscience, when I realised just how great The Creative Conscience are and how I wanted to be part of it and design for good!
'Creative Conscience is a global movement that
aims to improve the communities in which we live
and work and in turn help transform the wider world.
We promote socially valuable, human centered design that
enables and inspires people to change their lives and
the lives of those around them for the better.'
So I decided to enter Unfold into their Awards with the hope of being given the opportunity and encouragement to make my app real!
Overall, 650 projects were submitted and there were 69 chosen winners.
I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT!
I was one of the 69!!!

The awards evening was held at the IBM building on South Bank, London. It was such a lovely evening where we had the chance to chat to all the other winners as well as industry. When the awards were announced we received a certificate which indicated which award we'd achieved. I was lucky enough to gain a Bronze Award!

I found Chrissy's speech really inspiring as she explained how the awards weren't about the certificate but were about how we now should be going out there and making our projects real. Designing for good! This is what I intend to do with Unfold and am now on the hunt of app creators!
Furthermore I am so glad I entered Unfold into the Creative Conscience Awards and am looking forward to hopefully working with such an inspiring organisation in the future!
